“With my three friends, Abby and Chrissy, we are raising money for Opportunity International to give mini-loans to women to help them out of poverty. How and Why? I’ll start with the How; We are wearing one shirt and one pair of shoes for a 100 days. The shirt is representing the very small amount of clothing poor people have compared to us, and the shoes are representing that 50% (300 million of them are children) of the world doesn’t own a pair of shoes, and if they do it’s only one pair. By doing this we’re trying to place ourselves in their shoes, literally.

Washing my child’s Afro-textured hair

How will I know when it is time to wash my child’s hair? Paying attention to your child’s behavior is important. If he or she is scratching the scalp a lot, then it may be time for a wash. There are other factors to consider to help determine when to wash your child’s hair. Some of these factors include, how active your child is, the weather, and if he or she is taking medication. Your child’s scalp must be cleaned and their hair should always be washed. You, the parent should develop a washing routine. Washing your child’s hair should be a lot of fun. It should not be painful for your child and it should not be stressful for you. At Afro Diva we offer one-on-one workshops to parents on “care for their child’s Afro-textured hair”.
